Purpose of the Position:
We have a term sheet of R6.3 billion and we’re about to draw down over R2 billion to deliver 82 gigawatts of solar parks from 7 different projects, with another 10 projects in development.
We have three distinct units within the company and all three units have their own budget and targets to hit, with the Financial Director responsible for all of them.
As the Finance Director, you’ll oversee and manage all financial aspects of this, including:
Key Responsibilities
- Project Liaison: Responsible as the project liaison with our banking partners, as well as for the reporting requirements to our shareholders and funders.
- Forecasting & Cash Flow: Cash flow forecasting requirements for our development spend. You’ll oversee cash-at-hand management to cover all development expenses on a rolling one year basis.
- Capital Optimisation: Manage our capital optimisation, ensuring it’s being put to work in more project development.
- Business Finance Function: Responsible for all the basic finance management functions of running a company, like: payroll, annual accounting, etc.
- Management & Oversight: Managing and oversight of all aspects of the business’ finance.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum Education: Matric (Grade 12) required.
- Preferred Education: A tertiary qualification in a related field is preferred. However, relevant experience will be considered.
- Work Experience: Minimum 5+ years of experience in a similar role.
- Project Delivery & Development Spend: Proven track record in financial management of project delivery and development spend, preferably in energy or infrastructure projects.
- Multi-Million Rand Projects: Managing larger project finance elements (R300-400 million per project), while comfortable producing cash flow forecasts for the R2-10 million projects.
- Finance Control Oversight: Controlling oversight function of multiple projects and development, in different Provinces across South Africa, so you’re on top of historic and future spend.

- Negotiating & Stakeholder Management: Reaching agreements with various stakeholders, whether one-on-one or multiple parties, while maintaining personable interactions and still delivering on KPIs.
- Result-Oriented: Maintaining disciplined focus on delivering KPIs (including milestones, budget, and quality standards).
- Flexibility: Adaptable to change in project conditions, challenges, and adjusting priorities.
- Confidence & EQ: Always being personable and engaging when interacting with stakeholders.
- Articulacy & Writing: Must be articulate in speech and writing. Writing well and engagingly, including writing good letters and emails, is a key competency. For example, comfortable writing CEOs and shareholders; as well as instructing lawyers on the basis of a commercial agreement with a client.
